I've been using Gmail Notifier for a few years and it was quite happily working until about 2 hours ago. I now only get a 404 error code. I've uninstalled/reinstalled a few times and nothing happened. Any suggestions?

A 404 error means that the content your are trying to access is not found. Try to close the application and start it again. Alternatively, configure your firewall or your security solution to allow the application to communicate with the Internet.
I'm looking for something that will allow me to confirm receipt for selected contacts only. I already use Google Talk, so don't need anything for inbound.
Suggestions?

This option is available if you're using Google Apps because this is an option that can be set up for individual emails. You can't use any other application except this setting that your administrator may enable it or not.
